WINDHOEK – One of the most successful football coaches in the country’s flagship football league, Woody Jacobs, is a man on a serious mission.

The often-misunderstood youthful mentor has added to his already impressive decoration of accolades by completing a year-long course in sports management, majoring in finance, sport law, event management, marketing, business and sponsorship management.

Jacobs was handed his certificate upon the successful completion of the course at the Nelson Mandela University in Johannesburg, earlier this week.

He is amongst very few local football administrators to have acquired such high-level qualification, following in the footsteps of Namibia Football Association (NFA) old-timer Titus Kunamwene and dreadlocked astute football administrator, Mathew Haikali.

A trained schoolteacher, Jacobs is the son of the late Chicitto pop ensemble front man Skwana Louw, aka “Squakes” and is widely tipped as a potential future Brave Warriors head coach. His latest achievement is likely to increase his chances of landing the top job within the top echelons of domestic football structures.

Jacobs manufactured astonishing high marks in the following subjects: sports marketing, strategic management, sports communication and financial management.

The much-travelled coach recently parted ways with dethroned Namibian champions Tigers – only to resurface at newly promoted Namibia Premiership (NPL) outfit Okahandja United.
Jacobs has been a serial critic of the manner in which Namibian football is administered and his newly acquired knowledge will in all likelihood come under intense scrutiny from the general public.
