NKURENKURU – The police in Kavango West have arrested a 47-year old man for murder after he allegedly assaulted another man to death over a N$20 at Caima village.

According to the police report, the incident happened on Wednesday, last week at around 16h00. 
It is alleged that the suspect assaulted the deceased with a stick on the head, which resulted in serious injuries.
“The victim later succumbed to injuries on Thursday, in Rundu the Intensive Care Unit at around 23h40,” read the police report.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased allegedly argued with the suspect over a N$20.
This resulted in the suspect picking up a stick and assaulting the deceased several times before fleeing the scene.
The deceased has not yet been identified and police investigations continue.

In a separate case, also last week. A case of assault read with domestic violence was opened against a man from Mavanze village in Kavango West after he allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. The police have not revealed the identity of the suspect yet. 
According to the police, the incident happened at around 19h00 on Monday evening. 

“It is alleged that a suspect, who is a boyfriend to the 24-years old Namibian female victim seriously assaulted her several times while she was four months pregnant and as a result, the victim lost the pregnancy,” said the police statement.
The suspect is not yet arrested, however, efforts to trace him are underway.
