The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Galz & Goals programme is organising its first Career Day for 600 girls registered in the Windhoek Galz & Goals League, their peers and the general public on Saturday.

The gathering takes place at the NFA Technical Centre, starting at 09h00, and will offer the girls information and guidance on which career to choose, what opportunities are out there, what it takes to obtain a certain profession as well as offering encouragement and motivation for pursuing formal education.

Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, has confirmed her attendance. “We are very honoured that the Minister will make time to be with us and trust the Career Day will prove a valuable contribution towards the empowerment of young girls in the quest for motivation to make healthy choices for a bright future,” says Jackie Gertze, the National Manager of NFA Galz & Goals.

Ministries, companies, universities, organisations, representatives of professions and entrepreneurs have been invited to put up booths in an effort to provide information, answer questions and interact with the girls.

Local footballers and coaches will take the girls through the ropes on how to manage and combine football, work or studies, as well as the advantages of pursuing an alternative career in addition to football. Football related fun activities and competitions will be on offer for would-be visitors.
