Peter ‘Kanu’ Amadhila, who is an Outapi-based businessman, showed he has a kind heart when he recently donated N$10 000 worth of items including blankets to expectant mothers at the town of Outapi in Omusati Region.
Amadhila, the owner of AMA Engineering and Construction Group donated blankets to over 80 expectant mothers camping at Tukwathela Women Shelter near the Outapi District Hospital of whom some are awaiting to deliver, while others simply want to be close to the health facility when they require assistance from the hospital medics during pregnancy.
The businessman also donated boxes of apples, which he acquired through the Bank Windhoek Apple Cancer Project at the local Bank Windhoek branch at Outapi.
“I know that it is cold now, that is why I decided to buy blankets for you and also give apples to complement your diets as you are our mothers who are carrying future doctors, engineers and ministers of our country,” Amadhila said to loud applause from the visibly excited expectant mothers.
He called on the First Lady, Madam Monica Geingos, and the Minister of Poverty Eradication, Zephania Kameeta, to assist expectant mothers camping near hospitals countrywide.
Councillor of Outapi Constituency Fillemon Shikwambi called on other business people to emulate Amadhila’s good example of assisting other citizens who might be less fortunate. “God will reward you for sharing the little you have with others,” he said.
Eunike Hanguwo, an expectant mother from the Onaama Handiya village thanked the businessman for his generous support, noting that the donation comes at the right time when they are struggling with adjusting to the cold weather that they face at their camp.
