Andrew Kanime, chief human resource officer at FNB Namibia has confirmed that the bank and the Namibia Bank Workers Union (NBWU) have reached an amicable settlement on salary increases and benefits for bank employees.

“In line with being ‘the best employer to the best people’, we are pleased with the negotiations and discussions with the union and are sure that our employees will share our excitement. I think that the FNB culture of high performance, owner manager environment and values driven has contributed to great results for our bank and a motivated workforce that will be rewarded for their contributions,” said Kanime.

He explained that FNB would increase all employee’s basic salaries in the bargaining unit for the 2016/2017 financial year by a minimum of 7.50 percent per annum for an employee with a performance rating of three.

“It was further agreed that FNB shall pay all employees in the bargaining unit a transport allowance of N$250 per employee per month from the effective date. The effective date for the implementation of salary increases is August 1, 2016,” Kanime noted. This agreement translates into an overall average increase of 9 percent per annum for employees in the bargaining unit.

Kanime thanked all parties involved, including the union for the positive manner in which the negotiations were concluded.
