Engelbrecht Nawatiseb was born on June 20, 1969.

Legislative Profile: Currently serving as the Deputy Minister in the Public Enterprises Ministry, he is at number 27 of 75 politicians of the ruling Swapo Party after he was elected to the National Assembly in 2014 and will serve until 2020.

He has served as the acting Swapo regional treasurer for Oshikoto Region since 2010 and was elected into that position in 2012 until now.

Education: He has a Senior Secondary Certificate from Otjikoto Secondary School, is in possession of various media awards and a holder of a Road Contractor Certification.

Career: His past roles include serving as the mayor of Tsumeb from 2006 to 2010, deputy mayor in 2005, and a member of the management committee in 2004. Nawatiseb is a former journalist who wrote for anti-apartheid newsletters Bricks and Speak Out while at secondary school.

He also served as the regional information officer for the Council of Churches of Namibia (CCN) during the transition period leading up to independence, after which he joined the ministry of information. He is one of the founding journalists of New Era newspaper. He worked at the NBC during the time of the civil uprising in Angola.

He quit active journalism in 2003 and joined politics the next year.
