Just in the aftermath of Africa Liberation Day, May 25, when the continent and its Diaspora this Wednesday celebrated the 58th anniversary of African freedom, next Friday MultiChoice and M-Net Channels join the celebrations with the launch of M-Net Movies Blackout, an urban movie channel celebrating the immense contribution of African American stars to the magic of Hollywood.
While the spotlight will fall on a long list of well-known international Black talent, this pop-up channel will also feature a variety of popular films that will appeal to a diverse cross-section of viewers. Coinciding with the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), an annual international event in Miami dedicated to showcasing entertainment content made by and about people of African descent to a worldwide audience, M-Net Movies Blackout will be available on DStv Premium across Africa. The slate of more than 170 films will be screened on channel 109 for 18 hours a day – from Friday, June 3 at 06:00 until Thursday, June 30 at 23:59.
