Windhoek
All the work and no play makes Jack and Jill a dull a couple, well the Jack is out!!!.
It’s signed, sealed, delivered – two of the country’s most celebrated and much adored Jazz musos are to take their musical connection to another level.
Sources within the inner circles of local music let the cat out of the bag by revealing that multiple awards winning traditional folk singer, Erna Chimu, is to tie the knot with her longtime beau, Manneckey Khoe-Aob, of M-Connection fame. The latter is a multi-talented instrumentalist, notably when it comes to tickling the ivories (keyboards), he is also equally at home at hammering the skins stirring the pots in the kitchen (drums), guitar, bass and many other sound instruments. The pair has been dating for a considerable period and has been inseparable ever since they have moved in together at Khoe-Aob’s modest apartment, west of Windhoek.
Khoe-Aob, who originally hails from the coastal holiday town of Swakompund, has been doubling as manager, music producer, arranger and songwriter for his lovebird. He is also a member of the much-sought-after Erna Chimu five-piece Jazz Ensemble. The musical and social grapevine has it that the couple will walk down the aisle in July this year and plans to stage a low-key wedding ceremony with a carefully selected list of guests on the invitees’ repertoire.
Erna is the proud recipient of a series of accolades, including being voted “Best Artist in the Traditional” category at the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) in 2011, and added the Best Female artist of the Year at the same event. She has been nominated in the Best African Contemporary Category for her song ‘Chant’ for the All Africa Music Awards, (AFRIMA) 2014. ‘Chant’ features on Erna’s new album ‘Hai-serute’
