It is talent night again at the Coast as Poetic Healing present ‘No Filter’ poetry show tomorrow night at the Cosmopolitan in Swakopmund.
The culture based entertainment show is to give a platform to poets, comedians and musicians to share their talents with their community.One of the organisers, Frieda Shikoyeni, says they have noticed that in the past a majority of the members of the audience as young professionals who would not only like to be entertained but also inspired in every aspect of life. “This lead to the invitation of ordinary people in our communities that can share their life stories with others,” she says.
This month’s theme “No Filter” simply means they will be touching on as many issues that affect the community with Base FM presenter, Otto Kapuka, as a special guest on the night. Kapuka is a young man who connects with his community on a daily basis. His slot is dedicated to addressing social, emotional, and academic problems that people go through every day, touching on issues such as teenage pregnancy, baby dumping, school dropouts and living a purposeful life as a man. “We will find out from Kapuka how young people such as himself can tackle social issues head on,” says Shikoyeni.
She adds that when they first started they only had poets and as the year went on they added comedians, musicians and now a motivational speaker.
