Home Time Out Gazza nominated as Best African artist

Windhoek

Multi awards winning star Lazarus Shiimi aka Gazza needs votes to earn the title of ‘Best Artist in Africa’ having been nominated for the All African Music Award (AFRIMA).

Gazza was nominated for his popular hit Shuna featuring Uhuru and DJ Bucks. According to Gazza he didn’t enter the song for the competition, “I didn’t even know how they got hold of the song I was surprised to get an email of the Certificate of Nomination,” he says. Gazza last year featured in the AFRIMA online magazine as one of Africa’s fast growing artists. He describes being recognised as an artist outside Namibia and South Africa a beginning for him. “Normally it’s either Namibia or South Africa, now I am seeing growth,” appreciates Gazza.

He adds that Shuna is a huge success. “The song is being sung and danced to all over the world, win or not I am going to represent Namibia and that is what matters the most,” he says. He will be vying for this honour with Blade Deep and Busiswa from South Africa, Baddhi Satva from Central Africa and Flavour from Nigeria. The nation can vote for Gazza at http://www.afrima.org/…/continental-ca…/best-african-electro
