Namibian award-winning artiste Lady May, real name Martha Namundjeb, was involved in a motorbike accident at around noon on Thursday last week, and is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a local hospital. Lady May was was bumped off her motorcyle by a delivery vehicle at a four-way stop.
According to Hilda Basson-Namundjembo, speaking on behalf of the family, Lady May was still in the ICU after undergoing an operation on Thursday. The singer suffered a lung injury and a broken femur and hip.
Basson-Namundjebo said the singer’s condition was stable and she was responding well to treatment. “The Namundjembo family are grateful for the support, good wishes and prayers. We ask you continue to keep her in prayer,” said Basson-Namundjembo.
The musician is not in a state to receive any visitors except the family. She shot to fame in 2004 with her first album, Kamali, that won her a Sanlam NBC Music Award. She also represented Namibia in the 7th season of Big Brother Africa and emerged the last woman standing.
