Forward ever, backwards never, says Kakuva… it’s Pirates vs BA in Katutura derby

Home Sports Forward ever, backwards never, says Kakuva… it’s Pirates vs BA in Katutura derby

Windhoek

Orlando Pirates coach Luckey Kakuva has refused to entertain any thoughts of losing in tomorrow’s MTC Premiership Katutura derby against old foes Black Africa, when they clash at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

As of yesterday, Kakuva had already unleashed his war chest, boasting his readiness to lock horns with equally dangerous BA.

“It’s a derby, so obviously it won’t be a walk in the park for anyone but we are well prepared to take the game to them and hopefully get the desired results. As much as we are under pressure to collect maximum points, they too are faced with the same scenario and that could play out in anyone’s favour,” said Kakuva.

“Like I said, it’s a very crucial match for both teams and that means my work as coach will be a bit easy because the players are already aware of what is expected of them, and why they need to rise to the occasion. We have a few injuries on our list, but it’s really nothing big that we can’t deal with. We have the full complement of some great players that have the potential to dictate the fate of tomorrow’s derby.”

Kakuva also hailed the return of highly experienced former box-to-box midfielder Riaan Cloete to the Buccaneers ship, saying it’s just what the good doctor ordered for them on such a vital weekend. Cloete joined Pirates from reigning champions African Stars.

“It’s a huge boost going into the weekend and I’m confident he will be available for tomorrow’s match, so I’m very excited. With his experience and overall ability as veteran players, I’m positive my boys will be equal to whatever challenge Black Africa might have in store for us.”
