Windhoek
Namibia’s undefeated featherweight boxer Nathaniel Kamati has promised to give opponent Sakaria ‘Desert Storm’ Lukas a serious run for his money when they lock horns for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) African featherweight title.
Kamati, who is to fight in the main supporting bout of the No Mercy Part-4 boxing bonanza at the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino on October 3, yesterday made it clear that 2015 is his year to shine and that he will stop at nothing to brush aside the highly-experienced Lukas.
“I have prepared very well for this fight and I can comfortably say I’m ready for ‘Desert Storm’ come October 3. This will be a title fight and I want to have a different approach. My plan is to press hard and keep chasing him down until I have him, but I won’t surrender no matter the situation. My opponent knows me and knows what I’m capable of,” said a confident Kamati during yesterday’s press briefing in the capital.
On his part, a well-composed Lukas maintained a cool head and refused to be drawn into the usual trash talk of boxers, but however assured that his experience and tenacity would be enough to carry him through.
“For me, it will just be another day at the office. I have been fighting at this level for some years now and know exactly what to expect. He can scream as much as he wants but he is a small boy and I will handle him come fight night,” said a calm Lukas.
Topping the bill will be crowd favourite Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala, who takes on Cebo Ngema of South Africa for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-Africa bantamweight title. There will also be a number of other action-packed bouts on the cards, which will see the likes of Peter Malakia, Martin Haikali, Mike Shonena and Samuel Kapapu in action as well.
Tickets are available at all Computicket outlets at Shoprite and Checkers stores countrywide. General tickets are available for N$200 and a table seating 10 people with refreshments will cost N$10 000.
