Lüderitz
Angra Pequena Senior Secondary School in Lüderitz threw a lavish matric farewell party last Saturday for its final year students.
The occasion was rich in pomp and fanfare for the Grade 12s, who were resplendent in evening party dresses, high heels and tuxedoes.
The pupils had a night of their lives and some parents were delighted to see their children transformed into adults for the special event. Pictures were taken at the town’s waterfront.
The principal of the school, Shyral Beaukes, said she was content with the good behaviour of the matriculants, adding that it was indeed a night to remember.
The headgirl Theresia Mpingana Nande could not contain her her joy and excitement.
“This is a truly magical experience that every matriculant will cherish. We all looked phenomenally beautiful,” she said. Not all the matriculants could attend the farewell, she said, as they needed to obtain 20 credit points in their August exams to qualify.
She encouraged her fellow matriculants, not only at her school but on a national level, that “it is time to pay back to our parents with good marks”, and wished them all good luck with their final exams.
Angra Pequena SSS was the top performing government high school in the //Karas Region last year and currently has about 183 matric learners, of whom about 60 learners attended the matric farewell held at a local hotel.
