Home National Donations pour in for quadruplets’ mother

Rundu

Various contruction companies and businesses made donations of cash, clothing and infant formula on Tuesday to the 24-year-old mother, who gave birth last Friday to a set of male quadruplets at the Rundu State Hospital.

Accompanied by Rundu Mayor Hilka Leevi, three Rundu-based businesses, namely Armstrong Construction, Namibia Investment Contacts, Gaga Investment, paid a surprise visit to the mother of the quadruplets to hand over their donations. Mayor Leevi urged local businesses and residents to assist people like Kasanga and implored the business community to give assistance to needy people.

Armstrong Construction gave a cash donation of N$5000, Namibia Investment Contracts also gave N$5000 in cash and pledged N$1000 worth of infant formula milk for the baby boys for every month until they turn one-year. Gaga Investment in Rundu’s Nkarapamwe location gave a donation of clothes, blankets and milk bottles, at the cost of N$1500. Uhaku Pharmacy in Galaxy Mall in Rundu also gave a donation of basic infant goods that the mother will need and a N$1000 cash donation.

“The aim is to give back to the community when it’s due and this is also one way of doing it. We heard that quadruplets were delivered in our hospital by a young mother and that she is unemployed. We know how hard it is to raise kids, especially if one is unemployed. So I together with other business colleagues decided to give her a helping hand. We’re just supporting her,” Samuel Pereirra, the owner of Gaga Guesthouse in Rundu, said.

“We’ve discussed this with some of our friends and they will also come through with time. You see it’s not the first time that this is happening in our country, but perhaps this is a first in our town and region. We would like to thank God Almighty and the entire staff of the hospital for the kind assistance they’ve offered the young mother. In our eyes they are not only her children, but they are the kids of Namibia. That’s what motivated us to come and pledge our donations,” Joseph Kanuni Hungamo of Namibia Investment Contacts said.

“It’s just our social responsibility to give back to the community – not only to her, but we also assist others as well,” said Olavi Docky Makuti of Armstrong Construction.

Suffering labour pains Kasanga Agness was brought to Rundu State Hospital from Ncamagoro, a village in the Kavango West Region, 45km southwest of Rundu, last week. “I’m very grateful of the generous donations, I really didn’t expect that people will assist me. Thank you very much,” the young mother said.

The tiny babies are currently being kept in the incubator section of the maternity ward and will be discharged with their mom once they are strong enough.
