The Oshana Regional Youth Forum has urged constituency forums to organise monthly talk shows where the youth can address issues that affect them on a daily basis.

The constituency talk shows will be followed by regional talk shows to be held every three months.
According to the secretary to the executive committee Taurah Shiwayu, the proposed platform will accord youth the opportunity to hold fruitful discussions as well as call in experts to substantively address their problems and needs.

Youth in Oshana are faced with issues such as unemployment, gender-based violence and poverty, among others.

The resolution was taken at the recent national week celebration held in the region.
Youths want government to allocate funds to constituencies to enable them to carry out and implement projects that could positively impact on their lives and uplift them.

“The National Youth Council of Namibia should extend their financial support to the constituency youth forums through the Regional Youth Forum,” stated Shiwayu.

Apart from the funds to implement projects in the constituencies, youths also requested for transport allowances and arrangements to be approved regionally and not by the Permanent Secretary as is the case.

“Transport should be approved regionally, but not by the PS. This causes delay in youth projects and sometimes requests made to the ministry do not get support from the ministry,” said Shiwayu.
Among other issues raised at the youth week celebration was a plea to government to speed up the implementation of developmental projects in the regions.

The youth also called on government to pass a law to regulate the mushrooming of churches in Namibia.

According to the youth there are a number of false pastors who are at the helm of misleading the youth.
