LÜDERITZ – Perivoli Schools Trust conducted a 10-month training programme for early childhood development (ECD) trainers in Lüderitz.

Forty women, who attended this course, recently graduated at the Benguela Hall.
Country Director of Perivoli Schools Trust, Mike Chart B. Phil explained that the Perivoli Schools Trust aims to support the education of nursery school children in Namibia. The trust is a registered charity in Namibia established by the Perivoli Trust, which is a Mauritian-domiciled Trust established by the UK.
Chart said their goal is to deliver the Perivoli Training Trust programme to 70 percent of trainers by 2020.
Their mission is to transform the prospects of children in poor communities by showing nursery school teachers how to stimulate their young charges by using simple everyday waste materials as teaching aids. Chart stressed that there will the refresher courses to their graduates.
CEO of Seaflower Group, Mike Nghipunya, motivated the graduates by saying that as teachers they have to educate the children to give them a strong foundation. He highlighted that the project needed support, as they transfer knowledge to those who need the knowledge.
Nghipunya reminded the graduates that they have the responsibility to build somebody’s future, therefore, they should have personal goals.
Mayor of Lüderitz Suzan Ndjaleka applauded the Perivoli Teaching Programme for successfully implementing the ECD curriculum to ensure every child gets good and quality education from an early age. She encouraged the 40 graduates to use their certificates and get involved is school programmes to lay a sound foundation for the future leaders of this country.
Ndjaleka also urged the graduates to use their time to pursue high qualifications and set an example in their respective communities as well as register for Namcol programmes.
