OKAKU – The dead snake killed by schoolgirls and later buried by a witchdoctor, and which allegedly caused the schoolgirls to slither like snakes, has disappeared from a shallow grave were it was buried.

This revelation came after a group of Swapo Youth League members, led by Ephraim Nekongo, accompanied by a pastor and church elders from the Anglican Church visited one of the victims’ homestead.
Ruusa Ngwali said the witchdoctor from Windhoek, who was initially brought by her daughter and mother to one of the victims, burned and buried the snake in the grave.
Ngwali’s 13-year-old granddaughter is one of four girls aged between 13 and 17 years from Okaku village who started slithering like snakes, about two weeks ago after they allegedly killed a snake.
“I don’t believe in witchdoctors but it was a desperate situation. When we realised that the witchdoctor did not help, we decided to take the children for prayers in Oshikango, but the pastor there and other church members decided to bring us home and carried out some more prayers here,” Ngwali explained.
According to Ngwali, Pastor Erickson Festus of the True Gospel of Salvation Ministry Apostle Church, who successfully executed the exorcism, decided to exhume the snake’s remains from where it was buried by the witchdoctor only to discover that the remains were gone.
“The only thing that was found in the grave was the herbs that the witchdoctor buried together with the remains, and two sticks that formed a cross. There were, however no signs that the grave was tempered with, everything looked normal,” said Ngwali.
Efraim Nekongo, who headed the group of the youth that went to offer moral support to the affected parents and girls, urged other youth to stop making jokes or mockery of issues such as the ones taking place in Okaku Constituency because such events are real and they are affecting the lives of their fellow youth.
“Instead of praying for one another, some people have designed and displayed mockery placards and cartoons on Facebook about Okaku village. Let us be compassionate about others; let us pray for one another,” said Nekongo.
Nekongo and his group donated books, notebooks, pens and mattresses that were allegedly destroyed by the possessed children. They also donated food items.
Father Tarah Shalyefu of the Anglican Church, who led Friday’s prayers, thanked members from other churches who prayed and exorcised the evil spirits from the children, while urging the parents to stick to their Christian faith.
“Spirits and witchcraft have always been in existence but we should know that there is nobody above God, no one is as powerful as He is. No human being can create another human being or give life to a person,” said Shalyefu.
