The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation is convening the 9th Heads of Mission Conference from today to Friday at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek.
President Hage Geingob will officially open the conference under the theme: “Pursuing Namibia’s Economic Diplomacy for Development and Prosperity”.
In attendance will be the representatives from the three branches of government, former Namibian Heads of Mission, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and Namibian Honorary Consuls, and senior government officials.
In addition, and as part of the week-long programme, the ministry will host an exhibition during which the Namibian missions will exhibit and display key economic diplomacy achievements of their respective missions.
The exhibition will run today and tomorrow, and will be open to the public.
The Namibian Heads of Mission Conference aims to, among others, review the implementation of the Namibian Foreign Policy and other policy documents that will further enhance the efficiency of the Foreign Service.
There will also be discussions and presentations from key sectors and from various government offices, ministries, and agencies, that continue to contribute to the implementation of Namibia’s economic diplomacy.
Currently, Namibia has 35 missions abroad, comprising of 31 diplomatic missions and four consulates.
The opening session is scheduled to commence at 08h30 and the closing session on Friday at 12h00.
