ONGWEDIVA – The Helao Nafidi Town Council has so far attracted 129 exhibitors for its annual expo scheduled to run from 20 October to 4 November at Omafo in the Ohangwena region.
Six exhibitors are from South Africa, Kenya and Angola.
This is the 16th year that Helao Nafidi is hosting the exposition.
Helao Nafidi mayor Darius Shaalukeni said the expo will empower the business community, especially small and medium enterprises.
The trade and industrial exhibition is aimed at the development of tourism, culture and the provision of business and recreational activities to participants.
“These activities present an opportunity to build a community, promote community pride by celebrating things which make a town special, and evoke good feelings among members of the community,” Shaalukeni added.
Further, and more importantly, these types of activities benefit the community because the visitors to this event will spend time and money, which will boost the local economy, he said.
“I believe the envisaged trade exhibition will create a platform which will ensure that our young entrepreneurs meaningfully participate in economic development, and actively contribute to nation-building,” the mayor continued.
Shaalukeni said preparations are in full swing, and they still have corporate and SME stands available.
He invited corporate entities and SMEs which would like to be part of this great endeavour to contact his office without delay.
“The Ministry of Safety and Security, being one of the stakeholders, will be fully represented throughout the expo to ensure the safety of all. The council has also contracted a security company specifically for the event,” he added.
