The Namibia Hockey Union (NHU) has announced the suspension of its league games as a mark of respect for the late Namibian President, Hage Geingob, who passed away on Sunday morning after battling cancer.
In a statement released yesterday, the union expressed its condolences and stated, “As we mourn the profound loss of Hage Geingob, we must honour his memory with the utmost respect and reverence. In light of this national mourning period, and as a mark of respect for our late president, all indoor hockey games scheduled for this week are hereby postponed until further notice. We believe it is important to join the nation in honouring the memory of a leader who played a significant role in promoting unity and support for sport,” read the statement.
