The Roads Authority yesterday confirmed that travellers going to South Africa should use the Ariamsvlei-Nakop border post.
Roads Authority spokesperson Hileni Fillemon said travellers and commercial vehicles heading to South Africa are advised to use the Ariamsvlei-Nakop border point.
“The border post at Noordoewer is open; however, the border post at Vioolsdrift is closed due to road construction between the two borders. The immigration officers at the Noordoewer border post observe private vehicles travelling at their own risk through the Noordoewer border crossing to Vioolsdrift,” Fillemon said.
She said the Vioolsdrift border post may re-open in mid-July for travellers and commercial trucks travelling from Namibia to South Africa.
The Vioolsdrift border station has been closed due to flooding and severe rainfall in South Africa’s Northern Cape and southwestern Namibia.
