Focus FM launches ‘The Vault’ …in support of young Namibian artists

Namibian urban radio station Focus FM launched ‘The Vault’ music countdown show in Windhoek on Friday.

‘The Vault’ is sponsored by a subsidiary company, Hannes and Eve, who are a local partner of Yango, and will air every Wednesday from 20h00 to 21h00.

In an exclusive interview with VIBEZ!, head of production and host of the new music show Don Kamati said it is hugely focused on supporting young local artists to spread their music across the country and over the borders.

“We don’t have corporations in both the private and public sectors which are funding the creative industry, but Hannes and Eve chose to be different, and took on the mandate to sponsor ‘The Vault’ local music countdown.

Therefore, this is a beautiful platform not only to help established artists reach international recognition, but also to enable young and upcoming artists who struggle at the bottom of the scale to spread their music wide across the country,” Kamati said.

He noted that music artists who feel unsupported must seek refuge in ‘The Vault’, while leveraging their own creative ideas.

“As much as artists feel like they do not need validation, they do need to be validated and accredited, and this is what we do at ‘The Vault;’ it is where local music is certified,” Kamati added.

In addition to amplifying the countdown of the best local hits, the show will be divided into various phases, and will include exhilarating and entertaining pop-ups.

“This is not only a countdown; this is a movement and a lifestyle. This initiative involves masterclasses and mentorship for artists, including boot camps for musicians, while instilling qualities and ethics that artists are supposed to acquire.

Music does not only carry sound; it also carries heritage and culture, which are more important in today’s modern, cultureless world.

We need to preserve the youth,” Kamati added.

Managing director of Hannes and Eve Rides, Evelina Shangheta, expressed her excitement about sponsoring the new show, and highlighted the impact the partnership will have on all stakeholders involved.

The featured partnership will thus enable Focus FM to increase the brand visibility of Hannes and Eve Rides on the new radio show.

“This partnership is very important, as it will have a huge impact on increasing our brand visibility and credibility, as well as being a significant synergist for value- addition.

It is also a testament to our social responsibility as a growing company, and to give back to the community,” Shangheta observed. rrgaiseb@gmail.com
