Despite bankable innovations, many Namibian entrepreneurs still struggle to raise adequate venture funding, which is an essential aspect of developing scalable and
effective digital enterprises.
Nevertheless, Namibia’s
entrepreneurial sector holds promise.
Come 17 May 2024, Windhoek is scheduled to host ‘Windhoek Slush’D’, which has been described as an event aimed at putting business founders first.
As such, Namibia is set to host the world’s largest start-up conference. Windhoek Slush’D was founded in collaboration with Slush HQ (Finland) to play a crucial role in supporting growth and innovation in Namibia’s emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem. Windhoek Slush’D aspires to contribute to the development of a strong and integrated entrepreneurial ecosystem that is critical for long-term success by connecting start-ups, investors and established enterprises.
“As a founder-focused event, you are the main attraction! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to shine. Show up and show out,” said Audrey !Haosemas, the founder of Windhoek Slush’D.
The upcoming event aims to bring together founders, investors and talent under one roof to foster a thriving and impactful business environment.
In an interview with New Era, !Haosemas said the Namibian start-up ecosystem has tremendous potential, but only needs some driving force. She said through the event, start-ups will get a chance to pitch to investors, potential new customers and partners on stage.
The top 10 pitches on stage, in front of potential investors and a jury, stand a chance to win tickets to Slush 2024 in Helsinki, which is scheduled to happen towards the end of the year. Conditions for entry include start-ups that are
less than five years old, tech-focused,
and whose products or processes are scalable.
“Think the impossible. Everything is crazy until it works. Don’t be afraid, have courage,” said !Haosemas.
