Industry Loop – It is our time

If you are an entertainer or have direct business involvement in the entertainment and arts space, then this is our time!

This is the busiest time of the year for anyone involved in the entertainment and arts space. If you are not busy, then somewhere, somehow you are missing the mark – that is if you are even shooting.

Momentum is everything in this business. If you do not build momentum for yourself, you will struggle to get booked.

One gig usually leads to the next because of the power of word of mouth. So, if you are not busy, then you miss the opportunity to build momentum.

But it is not all doom and gloom. Are you marketing yourself or your services? You cannot market yourself when you are not getting booked.

The saying goes: ‘Doing business without marketing your product is like winking at a girl in the dark’.

Complaining about industry politics is not going to get you those bookings.

People are focused on their craft and getting their brand out there while you are struggling to not only market your brand but you happen to be known as that one entertainer who is always complaining about the industry.

Honestly speaking, no one cares.

Namibians are expert keyboard warriors. They will leave a ‘kayoung’ comment on your status and move on with their lives while your brand will stay quiet.

In your marketing efforts, you need to be clear and concise.

Sometimes your brand sends out mixed signals and potential clients struggle to understand what it is that you are actually offering.

Relevance is also a key factor. The question any potential client will always ask is, ‘is what you are offering relevant to the current climate and environment?’

It is a question that you need to ask yourself and not leave it to a potential client.

Asking yourself this question will help you develop the winning plan – a winning plan will require absolute honesty.

This is our time; if you do not take advantage of this peak season as an entertainer, January and February will be exceptionally difficult for you.

No one spends in January or February.

In January, everyone is too busy with ‘Back to school’, and ain’t no one spending on entertainment in February; everyone is too busy with Valentine’s.

Take advantage of the season right now; operate like a business.

Do not get caught in the holiday hype. Instead of being a consumer, make money!

Until the next Loop, we say #GMTM
