Every year, many countries around the world put up mega street carnivals, where thousands of people flood the streets in colourful costumes plastered with sequence, feathers and beads.
This year, we celebrate our own with the Mystique Carnival taking place simultaneously in Windhoek and Swakopmund.
It promises to be a spectacular showcase of good music, great vibes, delicious food, dancing and most importantly, celebrating people.
Organisers Sarde Amadhila and Tiofelus Kaputu thought it fitting to introduce the carnival for Namibians to experience the world of parades, floats, costumes, entertainment as well as to share cultures
“It is about different people from different walks of life coming together and celebrating each other.
The aim is to unite all the different people through music, dancing and colourful costumes,” they reiterated. The Caribbean-themed party is set for the Windhoek Showgrounds, while the Swakopmund Carnival will be celebrated at the Vineta North Sports Stadium.
There will be food, beverages and art stalls, and many carnival shooting games. The public is expected to turn up in colourful clothes/costumes.
