Oviritje music concert planned for Stoke on Trent

An Oviritje music concert in aid of elderly residents of Katutura will take place in Stoke on Trent, England, on 6 August.

Organised by Suko White Kejarukua, a Namibian Oviritje artist living in England, the event will be preceded by a football tournament with 11 teams taking place on the same day.

Katutura Constituency councillor Vezemba Rodman Katjaimo is the guest of honour at the event.

“He will be giving us a speech on how to look after ourselves while living abroad,” said White, who is part of the Ongoro no Mundu band.

She further told VIBEZ! that Katjaimo, together with singers Vehungira Karupa and Josua Hange, will depart for Stoke on Trent on Tuesday this week for the event.

White, Karupa and Hange as well as Queen of Disco Uatungua Ivonne Matundu and keyboard player Cello Hauanga will perform at the concert.

White said despite now being a councillor, Katjaimo loves sports, and he will facilitate the live broadcast of the football competition on NBC’s Omurari FM radio.

While there, he will also go watch the Team Namibia at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
