The Namibian Police in the Khomas region are looking for an unknown suspect who pretended to be a police officer and took a car from a woman at the bridge behind Unam’s Hage Geingob Campus in Windhoek.
The incident occurred on Sunday at around 18h00 at the intersection of Florence Nightingale Street and B1 road, Khomasdal.
According to police public relations officer Elifas Kuwinga, the perpetrator asked for the victim’s driving licence and hit her before she was able to give it to him.
The police said the woman passed out and woke up five minutes later next to the road, with her sleeping baby next to her. She was found by a man who took her to the police station to report the incident.
“It is alleged that an unknown suspect pretended to be a police officer, hit the complainant with an unknown object and got away with the complainant’s VW Polo vehicle and cell phone (iPhone) without her consent,” said Kuwinga.
Kuwinga said although the vehicle was recovered, two cases of robbery with aggravating circumstances and impersonating a police officer are registered. -ljason@nepc.com.na
