TSUMEB – The Oshikoto police reported a case of murder against a 30-year-old farmowner and 26-year-old farmworker after the pair allegedly shot and killed a 33-year-old man at their farm.

The region’s crime investigation coordinator, Titus Ekandjo said, on Tuesday the incident occurred around 16h00 on Sunday on a farm on the outskirts of the Kuvukiland location in Oshikoto’s Tsumeb constituency. The deceased was identified as Tangeni Lamek, a resident of the Kuvukiland location.  The two suspects were arrested on Monday at around 18h53, and two rifles were seized from the suspects as murder weapons.

“It is alleged that a man was found lying in the bushes in a pool of blood with an injury on his left arm. He was found by two women who were collecting firewood from the said farm,” reported Ekandjo. He added the deceased was still alive when he was found by the two women, who then rushed to the police station to report the incident.

Lamek had succumbed to his injuries by the time the police arrived on the scene. The deceased’s body was transported to the Tsumeb State Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem. Both suspects are detained at the Tsumeb police station holding cells, and they will appear before the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court today. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed. -Nampa
