Swapo promises N$85bn for job-creation … intends creating 5 000 jobs in five years

Swapo Party vice president and presidential candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says the party will channel N$85 billion towards job-creation and tackle youth unemployment in the country over a period of five years, once it retains power. “Comrades, we are going to create jobs… Youth unemployment remains a real challenge. The high rate of youth unemployment is a concern, not just for the affected individuals, but for the entire nation as well,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is also referred to as NNN in political corridors.

Speaking at the party’s star rally held on Saturday in Eenhana in the Ohangwena region, the politician told her audience that job-creation will be one of the key priority areas for the party. 

She said the party will likewise invest N$500 million towards food security, noting that one cannot talk about a Namibian child dying of malnutrition in a country with resources like Namibia.

“This country has enough resources to feed everyone. We know we need investors in this country; they are welcome,” she noted, adding that this should be on the conditionality that locals also benefit from and share the country’s resources equally.

“To enhance the socio-economic well-being of veterans, three categories of financial assistance has been provided: one-time lump sums, monthly financial assistance, and social assistance improvement grants. 

We will ensure that our veterans receive their benefits, including the improvement of services such as medical and social grants, to enable them to live dignified lives,” she added.

Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted that she does not intend leading a divided nation. Therefore, the party needs to be united to avoid killing the rest of the country.

“I am continuing to appeal to party members that we must be united in the name of Namibia.” 

The vice president furthermore promised to build the best sporting facilities in every constituency across the country.

“We are ready, and we know how much it costs. Sports can significantly contribute to the economic development of Namibia, the well-being of the nation, and empower young people to discover themselves and play a role in shaping their future,” she stated.
