The top-flight FNB Women’s Super League concluded its last-round football matches last weekend before taking a break until January. 

According to the Namibia Football Association (NFA), the women’s football league will resume on 25 January 2025.

Several matches were played at various venues throughout the weekend. After five rounds, Khomas Nampol sits atop the standings with 15 points, having won all their opening games. Beauties follow closely with 10 points, while Arrows Ladies occupy third place with the same points total.

Defending champions Ongos Ladies FC have not had the best start to the season. They currently sit in fourth place with eight points, having played four matches (two wins and two draws). Reflecting on the initial rounds, coach Shama Gure admitted it wasn’t the ideal beginning. “It’s not a bad start, although we would have hoped to be on top before the break. We have one of the strongest squads in the league and the quality in our team is undeniable. We hope when the league resumes, we will take our right position as the champions,” he added

He remains optimistic about their chances saying: “We’re just five matches into the season. If we take time to reflect, we can come back strong.”

Okahandja remains rooted at the bottom of the table after five games. They are yet to register a win or pick up a point, losing all their matches. Namib Daughters are also struggling, occupying 11th place with just a single point from five matches (four losses and one draw).
