SYMLAFA continues to celebrate creatives

The Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards (SYMLAFA) are set to return for their seventh edition this September, celebrating the very best in Namibia’s fashion, lifestyle and entertainment industries. Organisers have called on all nominees to complete and submit their entry forms, including all required supporting documents, by June. SYMLAFA spokesperson Helena Shigwedha said this year, the awards shine a spotlight on celebrating creativity, influence and excellence across Namibia’s lifestyle, fashion and entertainment industries.

“We are excited to announce that the application form is now available. Visit the provided link to nominate yourself or your favourites,” she said.

Last year at the awards, Denzel Leroy // Naobeb, also known as NSK, made strange remarks there. That saw him jumping on stage, causing consternation at the event, claiming he was robbed of an award.

Shigwedha noted that Simply You Magazine takes the integrity and professionalism of the platform seriously. They are committed to ensuring that the SYMLAFA stage remains a space of respect, celebration and professionalism. While some events occasionally come with unexpected moments, this has taught them more than ever to be very vigilant, and make sure that something like that does not happen again.

“The SYMLAFA process is designed to be very fair. Voting is conducted through sms lines, and there is a system which tracks votes in real-time and prevents manipulation. Additionally, we work with an independent auditing partner, who verifies and authenticates the voting results before winners are announced.

Nominees are briefed on the process from the start. and are given full clarity on how voting is handled. Winners are determined by votes strictly,” she stated.

Shigwedha added that the goal is to make this year’s edition not just a celebration, but a powerful statement of growth and purpose in Namibia’s creative landscape. They are introducing a few new categories, such as Creative Funding Champion of the Year and Creative Entrepreneur of the Year, where they highlight individuals or brands which are supporting creatives behind the scene.

Attendees will have an unforgettable night, which will include captivating performances, impactful stories and unforgettable moments. From the audience to the production quality, everything has been carefully curated to deliver a premium and inspirational experience this year.

“As a platform, we remain committed to creating space for creative voices, building pride in Namibian talent. We encourage the public to get involved not just as voters, but as supporters of local excellence,” she added.

15 winners will be awarded in the different categories, namely Male Actor of the Year, Female Actor of the Year, Female Radio Presenter of the Year, Male Radio Presenter of the Year, TV Personality of the Year, Female Model of the Year, Male Model of the Year, Make-up Artist of the Year, Content-Creator of the Year, Influencer of the Year, Photographer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year, Stylist of the Year, Fashion Designer of the Year and the Diamond Award of the Year.
