ONIIPA – Prime minister Elijah Ngurare has urged churches to continue collaborating with the government in addressing societal issues, raising awareness of government policies and projects, and promoting unity and reconciliation.
He made these remarks during a church service at the Oniipa Parish Church on Sunday morning.
Addressing the congregation, he highlighted the vital role churches play in fostering community cohesion and called for continued cooperation between religious institutions and the government.
During the service, Ngurare made a personal contribution of N$3 000 towards the Sunday school, reminiscing about his own childhood involvement in Sunday school.
“Children must respect their elders and persevere in their aspirations; every dream is valid,” he said.
Pastor Epafras Hainghumbi of Oniipa Parish took the opportunity to urge the prime minister, as the head of government administration, to consider introducing measures to harvest rainwater.
“Such initiatives would be beneficial to northern farmers during drought seasons,” he said.
Congregants applauded the prime minister’s gesture and Hainghumbi’s appeal, expressing hope that the government would heed the call for rainwater harvesting.
They felt reassured by the prime minister’s message of support, and his commitment to strengthening the bond between the government and the church.
Ngurare’s visit to the Oniipa Parish Church underlined the importance of government-church partnerships in addressing community challenges and fostering social harmony.
