The Brave Warriors 2026 World Cup Campaign got a major boost yesterday with the launch of an SMS competition through the full sponsorship of a Toyota Starlet valued at N$300 000, made possible by Pupkewitz Toyota and Toyota South Africa Motors.

Speaking at the official launch of the initiative at Pupkewitz Toyota showroom in Windhoek, Pupkewitz Toyota brand manager Shawapala Kandjabanga said the idea began in May, when campaign chairperson Tim Ekandjo approached the dealership for sponsorship.

“Tim reached out in May requesting sponsorship. We drafted a proposal to Toyota South Africa requesting a 50% discount on a vehicle. However, Toyota South Africa committed to a full sponsorship of the Toyota Starlet.”

The car is now the grand prize in an SMS competition that runs from 10 July to 31 August 2025. To enter the competition, members of the public must SMS the words “Brave Warriors” to 106, at a cost of N$3 per message. There is no limit to the number of  times one can enter. In addition to the vehicle, participants also stand a chance to win weekly N$1 000 grocery vouchers.

Ekandjo related how the concept evolved. “The idea was originally to auction the car. Then it turned into getting a 50% discount for an SMS competition, which finally became a full sponsorship.”

He added that the Warriors World Cup Campaign Initiative Committee is fully committed to the success of the campaign. A separate account has been created specifically for the proceeds, which will be audited once the campaign ends in December.

The campaign has a target to raise N$9.8 million, with N$5 million expected from a gala dinner pencilled in to take place on 3 August.

The proceeds will go towards the cost of travel, training, and logistics as Namibia pushes to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in history.

The campaign reflects growing momentum and corporate support for the Brave Warriors’ qualification hopes, a national effort powered by small contributions, bold partnerships, and big dreams.
