Telecom reopens Omaruru Teleshop

Telecom Namibia on Friday reopened its Teleshop in Omaruru, marking a significant milestone in the company’s dedication to enhancing telecommunications services across the region. The facility, strategically located in the heart of Omaruru, is testament to Telecom’s commitment to providing reliable and advanced ICT solutions.

The official reopening ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, community leaders, and esteemed guests.

According to a Telecom statement, the Omaruru Teleshop’s reopening is a strategic initiative that supports the company’s Integrated Strategic Business Plan (2023-2027), which outlines the company’s commitment to network modernisation, service enhancement, and customer satisfaction. To achieve these goals, Telecom Namibia is expanding its mobile base stations in the Erongo Region and accelerating the rollout of fibre infrastructure to improve connectivity for residential, commercial, and governmental clients.

“The decision to reopen the Omaruru Teleshop resulted from a meticulous analysis of the region’s economic landscape, strategic imperatives, and growth potential,” Telecom stated.

The company added that the decision to reopen was driven by ongoing expansion of mobile and fixed network infrastructure across the country; Omaruru’s diverse economy; existing mobile, fixed-wireless and VSAT connectivity; Omaruru’s location within a tourism belt; mineral deposits in surrounding areas; and high mobile phone and radio penetration, juxtaposed with low direct internet connectivity, revealing significant potential for enhanced services.

“This reopening aligns perfectly with Omaruru’s vibrant service sector, including education, healthcare, government, tourism, and banking, all of which stand to gain significantly from the newly reopened Teleshop. Education benefits from enhanced internet for learning, healthcare from seamless patient communication, and government from reliable infrastructure. Tourism thrives with improved connectivity for bookings and visitor experiences, and banking services rely on secure networks. The Teleshop directly addresses the connectivity gap, providing accessible, localised support, and advanced telecommunication solutions, empowering residents and businesses with essential digital tools and fostering economic growth across all sectors,” Telecom stated.

“Today is more than just the reopening of a Teleshop; it’s about creating stronger connections, fostering growth, and building a brighter future for Omaruru, its people, and the surrounding areas,” said Omaruru mayor Vincent Kahua.

Speaking at the reopening ceremony, Kahua added that he new Teleshop represents a “significant investment that will help meet the growing demand for communication and information in our community”.
