Drug busts dominate weekend crime

The Namibian Police have confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects in drug related charges over the weekend. The operation conducted resulted in the seizure of cannabis, cocaine and madrax with a total value of N$19 820.

On Friday at Rehoboth, it is alleged that a 36-year-old Namibian male, suspect, was found in possession of a parcel of skunk cannabis with 90g, 3x full mandrax tablets and a half mandrax tablet. The drugs’ value was estimated at N$4 920. It is alleged that a search was conducted on him after a tip-off was received.

Also on Friday, three male suspects, ranging between the ages of 18 and 45, were arrested during a police search that was conducted on them.  It is alleged that the suspects were found in possession of 23x bankies of skunk cannabis, weighing 25g to a value of N$1250.

At Mariental on the same day, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested during a police search. It is alleged that the suspect was found in possession of two units of crack cocaine with a value of N$200.

In an unrelated matter in Mariental, the same day, a 19-year-old woman was arrested during a police search. It is alleged that the suspect was found in possession of 21x bankies of skunk cannabis weighing 40g, 8x full mandrax tablets, a half mandrax tablet, 1x quarter mandrax tablet, a half-moon crack cocaine and a quarter crack cocaine valued at N$8 300.

At Swakopmund, a 21-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of 44x bankies of skunk cannabis at 49 grams, worth N$2 450.
