Namport launches community wellness initiative

The Namport Community Wellness Initiative kicked off for the first time this weekend in Walvis Bay at the Dunes Mall, drawing a good turnout from residents, including many senior citizens. 

The morning featured a variety of interactive wellness activities, fitness sessions, health screenings and community engagement.

Jacob Ntintin Orange, executive officer and people and culture strategist at Change Experience Consulting (CXC), served as the guest speaker, delivering an inspiring address on ‘Championing Community Wellness for Sustainable Resilience’. 

He emphasised the importance of leadership and advocacy in promoting wellness initiatives that build long-term resilience in communities, encouraging attendees to take actionable steps toward healthier lifestyles.

Cliff Shikuambi, Namport’s manager for marketing and stakeholder engagement, noted the initiative was launched to promote holistic community wellness, aligning with Orange’s message on fostering sustainable health and wellbeing across families, workplaces and the wider community.

The event offered mobile health clinics providing blood pressure, glucose, BMI, HIV, TB and maternal health screenings as well as booths on nutrition, mental resilience and financial literacy. a

Participants actively engaged in the wellness stations, gaining practical tips to support healthier lifestyles.

Fitness was a highlight, with Zumba, Tae-Bo led by Technition Body Transformation (TBT), alongside a choir performance by Swakopmund Acapella Group, adding energy and community spirit to the morning.A standout feature was the ‘Adopt-a-Seedling & Starter Garden Kits Activation’ by Good Food Namibia, inspiring participants to grow their own nutritious produce and extend wellness practices to their families and communities.

At the event, Namport acknowledged the support of its partners and sponsors, namely WBCG, LSS Namibia, Technition Body Transformation, Good Food Namibia, Old Mutual Namibia, Namib Mills, Dunes Mall, Dune 7 Dental Practice, TBT and others.

The launch successfully combined health, fitness, nutrition and community engagement, reflecting Namport’s commitment to promoting holistic wellbeing and stronger communities.
