Chery gears up for International User Summit …as NEV line-up gains strong local traction

Chery continues to grow into one of the strongest names in Namibia’s new energy vehicle (NEV) space.

Chery’s Super Hybrid (CSH) the line-up – comprising the hybrid Tiggo 4 Cross CSH, Tiggo 7 CSH, Tiggo 8 CSH and Tiggo 9 CSH plug-in hybrids – are make significant inroads in terms of local sales, as they offer excellent fuel economy coupled with proven reliability and superb after-sales service.

Chery has been the leading Chinese passenger vehicle exporter for 22 consecutive years. To support the rise of the brand internationally the annual Chery International User Summit is scheduled to take place in China this month from 17 to 21 October 2025.

The summit will be held under the theme ‘Co-create, Co-define’.

It goes beyond a simple dialogue between the brand and its users.

It is a comprehensive showcase of innovation, ecosystem synergy and global vision. Building on the momentum of the 2024 Chery International User Summit, which highlighted Chery’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development, this year’s event will address the new needs and expectations of global users for future travel, upgrading the Chery ecosystem to version 2.0.

This year’s summit shifts away from the traditional one-way release, inviting international leaders, industry partners and global media to participate.

Highlights at the summit include the global debut of Chery’s all-new seven-seater SUV range and the reveal of an iconic model in its first-ever electric version. These milestones will be marked by the unveiling of the latest breakthrough in Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology.

Under the theme ‘Co-Create New Move’, Chery is scheduled to host a series of activities, including the launch of a new brand ecosystem, a KOC co-creation forum, a safety crash challenge, and an immersive ecosystem exhibition. These activities span five dimensions – experience, vision, concept, certification and integration – forming a complete loop that connects products with industries and technology with ecosystems.  The summit will also highlight the automaker’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development.

Recently, Chery has achieved strong results in the ESG field, earning a place on the 2025 Forbes China ESG Influence List and becoming the only automotive company included in the 2024-2025 Forbes China Sustainable Industrial Enterprises List.

As Chery continues to expand its global footprint, the company has become the first Chinese automaker to surpass five million vehicle exports, re-entered the Fortune Global 500 at No. 233, and achieved the milestone of ‘Double 500’.

“Chery’s growth in southern Africa has been phenomenal, with local drivers embracing the brand in record numbers,” commented Verene Petersen, national brand & marketing manager for Chery South Africa. “The strong uptake of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models shows just how ready people are for smarter, more efficient mobility. The International User Summit reflects that same momentum on a global stage, highlighting how Chery and its users are shaping the future together,” added the manager. Meanwhile, with four models to choose from, Chery has made a big impression on the Namibian automotive landscape and is now one of the leading purveyors of electrified vehicles in southern Africa. “This is a clear sign that drivers are ready to embrace electrification when it’s delivered with the right balance of technology, efficiency and value,” said Jay Jay Botes, general manager for Chery South Africa. Value is at the heart of Chery’s NEV offering, with the Tiggo 4 Cross still one of the most affordable hybrids in the country.

The Tiggo 7 CSH offers excellent features.

Chery’s approach is simple: advanced cars should be within reach of more people.

While electrification is often reserved for the premium end of the market, Chery has focused on democratising hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology.

By offering feature-rich, efficient cars at competitive prices, the automaker has made it easier for Namibians to take their first step into electrified driving.

“Our goal has always been to make smarter, cleaner driving accessible to more people,” added Botes. “Seeing how quickly drivers have responded to our line-up of new energy models shows that motorists are ready for this shift. We’re proud to be the brand helping them make it,” he said.

This strong momentum is only the beginning. Chery’s rise in the new energy vehicle segment underlines its commitment to reshaping what drivers can expect from electrification: turning advanced technology into something more people can experience, enjoy and afford.

In a market where drivers are increasingly looking for value without compromise, Chery’s Tiggo lineup stands out as the smart choice.

It is not just about driving, it is about experiencing the road in style, safety and comfort.
