Namibia’s Fifa ranking sinks

Namibia’s senior men’s national football team, the Brave Warriors, dropped seven places in the latest International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)/Coca-Cola World Ranking released on Friday.

In the previous Fifa ranking released in September 2025, the Brave Warriors dropped one spot from 108th to 109th despite a 3-0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe and a 2-1 loss to Malawi.

The latest rankings see the Brave Warriors slipping further from 109th to 116th in October 2025.

This decline comes after two defeats in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers during the latest review period, with Namibia losing to both Liberia and Tunisia.

At 116th, this marks Namibia’s lowest Fifa ranking in the past two years.

The country’s highest-ever position was 69th, achieved in 1998, the same year the Brave Warriors made their debut appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Namibia has also dropped four places in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rankings, moving from 26th to 30th out of 54 ranked African nations.

Globally, Spain maintained their top spot in the world rankings.

Argentina climbed to second, overtaking France who dropped to third.

England remains in fourth place, with Portugal holding steady at fifth.

Niger was the biggest climber, moving up nine places from 117th to 108th, while Greece saw the biggest drop, falling eight places from 40th to 48th.

Meanwhile, in the women’s Fifa rankings, Namibia’s Brave Gladiators dropped one place from 122nd to 123rd out of 196 ranked nations.
