The countdown for the 10th edition of the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (MTCWFW) has begun and excitement is spreading across Namibia’s creative industry. The event will take place from 5 to 8 November at Maerua Mall and will be a grand celebration of Namibian fashion, creativity and culture.
MTCWFW’s Alvaro Mukoroli, the creative director, said preparations are going smoothly, with teams working hard to make this milestone edition the best one yet. From model castings and designer fittings to stage design and sponsorship setups, every detail is carefully planned to ensure a seamless experience.
“We are celebrating a decade of Namibian fashion excellence, and we’re going all out to deliver an unforgettable experience,” he said.
Behind the scenes, organisers are combining fashion, music, and technology to create a world-class showcase that highlights Namibia’s growth in the regional fashion industry.
The 2025 theme, “A Decade of Namibian Fashion and Made in Namibia”, represents reflection, pride and progress. This year introduces several exciting new features to mark the 10-year celebration. For the first time, designers from Zambia, Botswana and South Africa will join Namibian creatives on the runway, bringing a stronger regional presence to the event.
Mukoroli said, students from the College of the Arts (COTA) will also have the opportunity to showcase their collections, adding youthful creativity and innovation to the mix. In addition, a special Ovaherero Traditional Fashion Showcase will highlight Namibia’s cultural richness through heritage-inspired designs.
“The production team has upgraded the lighting, sound, and visual storytelling to create a more immersive experience for the audience. Meanwhile, the popular fashion marketplace will be even bigger this year, allowing visitors to shop “Made in Namibia” products directly from local designers and lifestyle brands,” he said.
The four-day event will feature 30 talented designers presenting their collections on the runway. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant mix of styles from Namibia and neighbouring countries, each bringing unique cultural and creative perspectives. The event will also include live performances that blend music, art and fashion, creating an energetic and memorable experience.
Beyond the shows, MTC Windhoek Fashion Week provides a space for networking among designers, stylists, media and fashion influencers. According to the organisers, this year’s edition is about more than just fashion.
“It’s about celebrating people, collaboration and the future of African design,” Mukoroli said.
Over the past 10 years, MTCWFW has hosted more than 600 designers, 700 models and hundreds of young creatives. The event has played a major role in empowering local talent and positioning Namibia as a creative hub in Southern Africa.
This year, new collaborations with corporate sponsors and media partners will help expand the event’s reach, ensuring greater visibility for Namibian fashion. Despite the growth, the vision remains the same. “Ten years later, our mission remains to celebrate Namibian talent, connect Africa through fashion and inspire the next generation of creatives,” the MTCWFW team emphasised.
