KATIMA MULILO – A 36-year-old man died on Sunday morning after he was struck by lightning along the Chobe river in the Muyako area of the Katima Mulilo rural constituency.

Namibian Police Force Zambezi Regional Commander, Commissioner Andreas Shilelo informed Nampa that the incident happened between 07h00 and 08h00 on Sunday.

He said the police are still busy compiling the incident report and investigating to determine what really transpired in that part of the region. 

“What I can tell you now is that a young man died as a result of lightning in the Muyako area, according to the information availed to officers who attended to the scene,” Shilelo said.

The deceased was identified as Munalula Sintaka and his body was transported to the Katima Mulilo State mortuary to determine the exact cause of death. His next of kin have been informed.
