Members claim bragging rights at Windhoek Golf Club

The Windhoek Golf Club was alive with laughter, friendly rivalry, and superb golfing conditions over the weekend as the much-anticipated Committee versus Members competition teed off on Friday.

Outnumbered and under pressure, the Club Committee found themselves with nowhere to hide as the Members asserted their dominance in a contest that delivered both competitive golf and good-natured banter. By the end of the day, the Committee captain had little choice but to concede defeat, waving the white flag in what proved to be a memorable outing for all involved.

Stealing the spotlight was Chris van Lill, who produced a standout performance to win the competition with an impressive 44 points, earning widespread praise for a display described by many as “absolute class.”

He was closely followed by Gustav Jung in second place on 43 points, while a tightly contested battle saw Justus Amutenya, Ruan Greyling, and Paul Grobler all finish on 41 points, separated only by count-out. Hylton Villet rounded off the top six with a solid 40 points.

The nearest-to-the-pin prizes were claimed by Sponks Mohale (Hole 3), Christopher Durant (Hole 9), Johan Grobler (Hole 13) and Justus Amutenya (Hole 17).

The Club expressed its gratitude to the lucky draw sponsor for contributing to the event’s success.

Attention now turns to the upcoming weekend, when Windhoek Golf Club will host the Battle of the Social Societies competition, promising yet another exciting chapter on the fairways.
