Manica Group Namibia on Monday donated N$600 000 towards the construction of a multi-purpose hall at Kuisebmond Secondary School.
The hall is expected to serve as a central assembly venue for learners from various schools in the Kuisebmond area of Walvis Bay.
According to the company, the facility will also be used by the broader community for activities such as vocational training, youth development initiatives and other public-interest programmes.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Manica Group Namibia managing director Ralph Ruiters emphasised the role of the private sector in supporting community development.
“Growing up in Kuisebmond, I recall a joyful childhood. The presence of sports facilities and parks was a major contribution to that joy,” he said.
Ruiters added that businesses should play a more intentional role in community investment.
“As the private sector, we need to play a larger and more intentional role in community investment. This funding forms part of Manica’s education drive to assist schools in creating healthy and conducive learning spaces,” he said.
School principal Jonathan Maswahu expressed appreciation for the contribution and said construction of the roof trusses is expected to begin in April. Vice-chairperson of the school hall committee Vilho Nevonga also welcomed the donation, saying it would assist in completing the project.
“This contribution has touched our hearts and will go a long way toward completing the construction,” he said.
The company said the funding forms part of its corporate social investment programme, which focuses on education, youth empowerment, community upliftment and environmental sustainability.
Manica Group Namibia noted that its approach to corporate social investment prioritises sustainable, long-term impact aimed at improving access to opportunities and strengthening communities.
