In 2015, Namib Mills as part of its corporate social responsibility towards education, community upliftment and poverty alleviation, launched their Edu- light initiative at Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School by donating 270 portable solar study lamps to learners. This year the company handed 210 portable solar lights to learners from Tobias Hainyeko project school in Babylon.
The company has now also extended this Edu-light initiative to their employees to allow them and their children to benefit from use of these portable solar lamps. Edu-light is an initiative that aims to provide solar lights to learners and students living in informal settlements and rural areas that do not have access to electricity and use paraffin and candles for studying. In total the company has supplied over 600 employees with the Sun Eco solar lamps.

It highly values its employees and takes pride in creating a workplace environment where people are appreciated, engaged, productive and thriving.
The solar lamp is a small token of appreciation from management. It only needs one single sunny day of charging, and will shine for up to four hours on its brightest mode, or for over thirty hours on its lowest setting.
