Three murders, four suicides, three culpable homicides coupled with two rapes and an armed robbery, as well as a case of reckless and negligent driving, rounded off the past weekend crime-wise. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested after he allegedly stabbed Elvis Presley Rooinasie in the back with a sharp object on Friday night at about 23h00, at Greenwell Matongo location. It is alleged that the suspect and Rooinasie were involved in an argument that led to the fatal stabbing. The next of kin wee informed and police investigations continue. On August 21, at about 05h00, Milton Klassen, 26, succumbed to injuries he sustained, after being stabbed in the back with a screwdriver on August 20, at about 13h00, at Block B in Rehoboth.
The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested. The next of kin were informed and police investigation continues.
In yet another case of gender-based violence, a 40-year-old suspect was arrested for allegedly hacking to death his long-time girlfriend with a machete. The victim, who was struck several times on the head, was identified as Frieda Nambahu, 28, and her next of kin were informed. The suspect is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court today. Three women were robbed of their smartphones and handbags at gunpoint on August 20, at about 18h00, at the main entrance to Goreangab Dam recreation area.
An Angolan citizen, 20, was arrested after he allegedly overpowered a 53-year-old woman at Oshifukwa village and raped her while on her way back home from the cuca-shop, at about 00h00 on August 20.
A 44-year old Namibian male was arrested at Eenhana after he allegedly unlawfully entered the bedroom of a mentally retarded 44-year-old woman and had intercourse with her against her will.
