Windhoek –

One of Namibia’s highly talented rugby sensations Damian Stevens’ career is on an inexorable rise. Hard work is finally paying off for the youngster following reports that he has joined forces with South African rugby giants Cell C Sharks.

Boasting four caps for the Welwitschias, the 20-year-old scrumhalf joins the Sharks from Western Province. He is expected to add more depth to the Sharks’ under-21 side and also the senior side since he will be playing for both.

Stevens, who represented Namibia at last year’s Rugby World Cup in England, rose to prominence at Walvis Bay High School, where he featured for the school in most local rugby competitions before moving to Stellenbosch’s Paul Roos Gymnasium. He has also featured in the Varsity Shield for the University of the Western Cape and was also part of the Western Province Currie Cup qualifying squad.
