Lüderitz
Inspired by the Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP), whose focus is on inclusivity, Lüderitz Bay Fishing Enterprises recently donated N$30 000 to indigent communities of !Nami#nus Constituency.
Lüderitz Bay Fishing Enterprises managing director Pieter John Sylvester said in terms of their social responsibility, Lüderitz Bay Fishing decided to join the campaign to alleviate poverty in //Karas Region.
He explained that N$10 000 of the donated amount is meant for the Lüderitz Mayoral Fund, N$10 000 is meant for the old age home in Lüderitz, while N$10 000 will be used for the purchase of school uniforms, shoes, tracksuits and blankets to identified vulnerable students at Marmel Primary School in Aus.
Sylvester said Lüderitz Bay Fishing Enterprises is committed to the task of eradicating grinding poverty in the //Karas Region. Lüderitz Fishing Enterprises is one of the shareholding companies in Dorros Fisheries Holding, a horse mackerel quota holder.
The donation to the school was made through !Nami#nus Constituency Councillor Jan Scholtz.
During the handover of the donations to Marmel Primary School Councillor Scholtz thanked Lüderitz Bay Fishing Enterprises for the donation. He also encouraged the learners who benefit from the donation to wear their school uniforms with pride, as it will identify them as students of Marmer Primary School. He further encouraged the learners to study hard so they can fulfil their dreams.
Acting Principal at Marmel Primary School Josephine Mathe thanked the fishing company for the donation toward the school-going children of destitute families. Mathe promised to distribute the goods to needy children at the school. She further said the donation came at the right time, as it is winter and every student needs to wear socks and a school jersey and have blankets to keep warm.
The HPP is the brainchild of President Hage Geingob. It is intended to overcome extreme poverty and complement other development programmes of the government.
