Police in //Karas have arrested four Namibian men who allegedly robbed a farmer of N$15 000 in cash at Farm Muller Rus in the Aroab area.

It is alleged the four men, driving a white Mercedes Benz, went to the farm on Monday evening and tied up 75-year-old farmer Percival Willem Barnard with a rope before absconding with the cash, that sources said amounted to at least N$15 000.

The four suspects then sped off in the direction of Koës village, but their luck soon ran out as the police caught up with them 30 km outside Koës.

All four were subsequently arrested and the stolen money recovered.

Although the police could not confirm the amount involved, reliable sources said it is N$15 000.
//Karas police regional commander Commissioner Johannes Tsuseb confirmed the incident and warned criminals not to take chances, as the police will apprehend anyone involved in criminal activities.

He said criminals are not welcome in the region and offenders will be dealt with.

“Criminals must go away from our area. Whatever they do, they will be arrested within a short period of time,” the police commander warned.

The robbery suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be brought before Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court this week.
