The Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) is host the first story telling hour of the year for the children this Saturday at the FNCC Cinema in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The Day derives from the imprisonment of a humble Christian Martyr, Valentinus, by an oppressive Roman emperor. While in prison, the emperor noticed that Valentinus was well educated and ordered him to give lessons to his blind daughter, Julia. On the eve of his death, Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia as a farewell. signing it “from your Valentine.”

Storyteller Elmarie Kapunda will take children through the history of the Day by reading them story of when the day was found, how and why it is cerebrated. The story telling sessions for the six to ten-year-olds are still free and all parents are expected to take their children to the reading starting at 10H00.
