Four suspects arrested in Rundu for possession of dagga weighing 4.3 kg, with a street value of N$13 096, were each granted bail of N$4 000 when they appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The four suspects – former law enforcement officer Kuvare Eglina Sam, 35, Isaskar Naumanguluke Otto, 29, Marisa Ndara Joaki, 27, and Nginga Johanes, 25 – were arrested for possession of cannabis which they transported in a blue Toyota Corolla with a false number plate.

The number plate made the police suspicious and that prompted the car to be searched.

“So we pulled off the vehicle, searched it and found that there were parcels of cannabis, that is how we got hold of the suspects,” said Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo of the Kavango East Regional Police when they apprehended the suspects on Friday.

The four appeared before Rundu magistrate Barry Mufana, while public prosecutor G.N. Nghinongelwa prosecuted.

The case was remanded to April 4 for further police investigations and for the accused to seek legal representation.
